Sir Roger Moore and friends support Wear Red Day

Former James Bond actor Sir Roger Moore has joined with a host of other British celebrities to support the British Heart Foundation’s National Wear Red Day on Friday, February 26, reports Look To The Stars.

“Red for Heart is a brilliant way to raise money for the nation’s heart charity – do your bit this February by going red,” said the veteran actor.

The star is joined by Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, Gemma Atkinson, Jacqueline Wilson, Emma Thompson and many others for the campaign, which aims to raise awareness of heart disease in Britain.

“Heart disease is the UK’s biggest killer – why not do something great this February by going red for the British Heart Foundation and showing your support,” said Sharon Osbourne. “Join in the fun and wear red on Friday 26th February.”

Several stars are also sharing their own experiences with heart disease for the campaign.

“Ever since my wife Tanya had to have a heart transplant at Harefield Hospital back in 1987 I’ve realized the importance of advances in medicine and science,” said Vinnie Jones. “Tanya’s life saving operation was performed by a pioneering cardiac surgeon – Sir Magdi Yacoub who throughout his career has been funded by the British Heart Foundation. The BHF is dedicated to saving lives through their pioneering research, patient care, campaigning and vital information to keep more hearts beating. This February is National Heart Month and Tanya and I want people to recognize the incredible work the charity do. My wife is a remarkable women and I hope her story can be an inspiration to heart patients and those closest to them.”

Rick Parfitt, founder of rockers Status Quo, also shared his own story in the hope of raising awareness of heart disease: “This February I’m encouraging the UK to support the British Heart Foundation during National Heart Month. It is vital that everyone takes measures to look after their own heart health. I’ve had a quadruple heart bypass and as a heart patient I want to do my bit to help others. The BHF is here to help whether it be at the end of the phone or ordering your free heart information pack so you can get the support you need.
