Martin Campbell can't imagine directing another Bond movie

15-Feb-2010 • Bond News

In an interview with German film industry magazine "Blickpunkt:Film", two time James Bond director Martin Campbell briefly discusses "Casino Royale", his new film "Edge of Darkness" starring Mel Gibson, and his next project "Green Lantern" scheduled for a 2011 release.

Asked whether he could imagine to helm another Bond, Campbell answered: "No. After GoldenEye I was only interested in doing Casino Royale because it was Fleming's first story. Otherwise you'd start repeating yourself." (Note: this is a translation from the printed interview in German).

Campbell recently critiqued the follow up to his smash-hit "Casino Royale", saying "I felt 'Quantum of Solace' completely lost its way. We were lucky on 'Casino Royale', it was the origin story of Bond. Bond had the one and only affair that meant anything to him, and affected him throughout the rest of the series."
