Bond girl Rosamund Pike spends day at Barnardo's Chippenham centre
Bond girl Rosamund Pike brought a touch of glamour to Chippenham at the Redland Childrenâs Centre on Monday, explains the
Gazette and Herald.
The actress, who became known for her role in the 007 film Die Another Day, spent the day at the centre in Brook Street to celebrate its success in transforming the lives of hundreds of families.
She met staff and families who use the Barnardoâs-run service.
The Barnardoâs ambassador, who is appearing at the Theatre Royal in Bath, said: âI passionately believe that all families deserve a positive and meaningful relationship with each other.
âLove and support is a basic human right.
âThe Barnardoâs team in Chippenham deserves credit for everything that they have achieved so far, and I hope they will continue to make an impact for many years to come.â
Since it opened in 2006 the centre has registered more than 800 people for free support.
Barnardoâs childrenâs services manager Liz James said this was Miss Pikeâs first visit to a South West service.
âEveryone has been looking forward to welcoming such a prominent and popular actress who has done so much to support our work,â she said.
âWe are immensely proud of everything that we have achieved over the last few years and we hope her visit will encourage even more families to approach us for help.
âIt will also remind people that we no longer run homes and orphanages, the last of which closed many years ago. Today, much of our work takes place out in the community.
Redland Childrenâs Centre and the adjacent nursery, also run by Barnardoâs, employ almost 30 people.
