Dame Judi Dench to pen her autobiography 'And Furthermore'
After years of refusing to put her incredible life story down on paper Dame Judi Dench is writing her autobiography. The doyenne of the British film and theatre world will pen the tome, titled And Furthermore, with biographer John Miller, reports the
Daily Express.
Miller has written a biography on her called Judi Dench: With A Crack In Her Voice, as well as an illustrated title, Scenes From My Life, and edited tribute book Darling Judi, published to celebrate her 70th birthday.
Weidenfeld & Nicolson is delighted to have acquired the rights to the long-awaited book (to be released as a hardback in October) from Dame Judi, now 75. Although details of the deal havenât been disclosed it is thought that the actress sold the rights for a six-figure sum.
Her career spans 50 years of acting on stage, film and television. She has won nine BAFTAs, seven Laurence Olivier Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, an Oscar, two Golden Globes and a Tony award.
However, W&N tells The Bookseller that And Furthermore will be âmuch more than a career recordâ and will include her account of her 30-year marriage to actor Michael Williams, who died from lung cancer in 2001.
Malcolm Edwards, the deputy chief executive and publisher of the Orion Publishing Group, comments: âIn an era of shallow, instant celebrity Dame Judi is the genuine article: one of Britainâs leading actresses for almost half a century and one of the countryâs best-loved figures.â
