Vin Diesel`s Bond-spoof XXX2 and DAD director Lee Tamahori could be teaming up
MovieHole report that as confirmed in a report on Variety the other day â "XXX 2", sequel to the Vin Diesel monster, is supposed to bow next Summer.
Variety reports that Rob Cohen, who directed the original, has right of first refusal. But Cohen`s reportedly interested in directing a film called "Stealth" instead.
Next in line, according to the trade, to take on directing duties is New Zealander Lee `CGI parasurfing` Tamahori, the director Bond fans love to hate for "Die Another Day". He has already signed for the comic book movie "Deathlok".
Cohen has spent the summer location scouting for "Stealth", but there is no firm start date for the project, and Cohen has not officially stepped off XXX2. Vin Diesel returns in the sequel to the surprise hit, which - contrary to what the rumour mill says - won`t have anything to do with Xander Cage fighting Pirates on the high seas.
So the latest MGM Bond director could be defecting to the latest Sony Bond-spoof series. Die-hard Bond fans will no doubt be pleased that this will make him an unlikely candidate for Bond 21, which should start filming early 2005.
