Dench confirms involvement in 'Jane Eyre' screen adaptation

Judi Dench will join Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender in a new movie version of Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre. Cary Fukunaga will direct the film, which uses a screenplay by Moira Buffini, Theatre Mania explains.

Wasikowska will play the title role and Fassbender will play Edward Rochester in the movie, which begins production next week. Dench will play Rochester's housekeeper Mrs. Fairfax. The film will also feature Jamie Bell, Holliday Grainger, Sally Hawkins, Tamzin Merchant, and Imogen Poots.

Dench's myriad theater credits include Madame de Sade, Amy's View, Cabaret, and A Little Night Music. She won the Oscar for Shakespeare in Love and currently plays the role of "M" in the James Bond series. Most recently she was seen on screen in the movie musical Nine.
