Price for rare Sir Sean poem rises to £6,500

11-Apr-2010 • Actor News

The seller of a rare signed poem penned by Sir Sean Connery has increased the sale price by £5,500 to donate to a charity of which the James Bond star is a trustee, reports The Scotsman.

As previously reported in the Evening News, the verse was written by the Hollywood legend in 1955 before he hit the big time while he was a young actor in a touring production of South Pacific.

It is being sold on an online auction site for £6,500 – after originally going on sale for just under £1,000 – to allow for a donation of £4,225 to the Scottish International Education Trust.

The poem is said to have been penned by Sir Sean seven years before he landed the 007 role in dedication to a Leeds guesthouse landlady named Mrs Hawksbridge who had looked after him.
