Pierce Brosnan feels he never 'nailed' the 007 role
Pierce Brosnan has confessed he felt he never managed to "nail" the character of James Bond.
The 56-year-old actor took over the role of Ian Fleming's iconic spy from Timothy Dalton in GoldenEye in 1995, and played 007 for four movies, but told American magazine Venice he always felt in the shadow of predecessors Sean Connery and Roger Moore.
Pierce revealed: "It was one of those things I always struggled with - I never felt that I really nailed it - there was always a hint of Sean Connery and Roger Moore that was so indelible in my own mind."
Speaking about his second outing as Bond, he said: "When I did Tomorrow Never Dies I knew the movie wasn't up to speed, it wasn't as good as GoldenEye."
But he added: "I'm proud to have played 007. It's a small group of men, a prestigious group to be in the company of."
