Mike Howard was hoping to break the record at Bristol`s International Balloon Fiesta. Unfortunately heavy cloud cover prevented him getting past 7,500 feet.

The 36-year old used a replica Walther PPK to shoot the balloons one by one, gently lowering himself back to earth.

"I was a little disappointed we didn`t beat the record but there was nothing we could do because of the cloud and the risk of crossing into air space. But it all went swimmingly, I ascended about 15 miles, shooting the balloons was fun and with the right weather I am keen to try again soon."

Thanks to `Tracy Bond` for the alert
