'80s Bond songsmiths A-Ha announce retirement plan

Oprah always talks about an a-ha moment, when something occurs to someone and their life takes a whole new course. And now a-ha, the band that had one iconic hit, 1985's "Take On Me," is leaving behind the history they made with that animated-live action video which won six Moon Men at the MTV Video Music Awards and walking off into one-hit-wonder retirement, says Gather.com.

The threesome—Morten Harket, Magne Furuholmen and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy—had only one subsequent additional hit--the theme to the James Bond film The Living Daylights. Everywhere in the world except the U.S., the band was hugely popular. They set a Guinness World Record for attendance at one of their Rio shows, beating out the amalgamation of fans for Guns N' Roses and Prince.

After releasing Foot of the Mountain, its ninth studio album, the band declared that the 2010 world tour would be its last -- the group will disband at year's end.

A-ha will play its final U.S. date on May 16 in Los Angeles before heading back to Europe. The group's final gig in their hometown of Oslo will happen on Dec. 4.
