Ursula Andress looks a sprightly 74 on the Cannes red carpet
As Honey Ryder in Dr No, Ursula Andress won over a legion of male fans with her stunning curves, reports the
Daily Mail.
But 48 years after showing off her bikini body in the iconic beach scene, Andress could be forgiven for wanting to cover up her curves.
But as she made a rare public appearance at the Cannes Film Festival last night, the 74-year-old went against expectations as she wore a daring top.
The former Bond girl showed she was still body confident as a septuagenarian as she teamed her plunging neckline with trousers and a lace blazer at the premiere of Biutiful.
Also on the red carpet was juror Kate Beckinsale, Naomi Campbell, Naomi Watts and Meg Ryan.
While dozens of actresses have gone on to follow in Andress's footsteps as a Bond girl, it appears film fans just can't forget her stunning turn as Honey Ryder in Dr No in 1962.
A recent poll by the Radio Times found the actress was men's favourite female movie icon.
The Swiss actress beat Sigourney Weaver in Alien and Carrie Fisher in Star Wars to second and third place respectively.
In recent years, Andress has taken a step back from the spotlight and is only occasionally seen at showbiz events.
Two years ago, she went public with her battle against osteoporosis, after being diagnosed with the bone disease in 2000.
Just like Honey Ryder, who liked to swim and dive in the ocean, Andress has always lived a very active lifestyle and dreads becoming immobile.
She told the Mail: 'If I cannot be active, I would rather die. I could not cope without full mobility. My life would be over.
'My doctor told me that I had to take medication to save my way of life. I find it so strange because I had no pain, no warning. But that is the nature of the disease.
'You carry on as normal and you don't realise that your bone is becoming like glass.'
