Bond villain Mads Mikkelsen speaks about the upcoming 'The Three Musketeers'

04-Jun-2010 • Actor News

Already a star in his native land, Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen slowly is establishing his presence in American cinema. It started with his villainous role as Le Chiffre in the James Bond reboot, “Casino Royale.” Earlier this year, he appeared alongside Sam Worthington in “Clash of the Titans.” -- reports Hollywood News

But it’s a film Mikkelsen has yet to begin that has audiences salivating. He will co-star alongside Orlando Bloom, Logan Lerman, Matthew Macfayden and Milla Jovovich in a re-imagining of “The Three Musketeers.” In the film, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, Mikkelsen plays Rochefort, a character who makes like difficult for the three heroes.

Mikkelsen spoke with Hollywood News today about another project, “Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky,” in which he plays the famed Russian composer. But we asked him about the tone of “Musketeers” at the end of the interview, and received insight into Anderson’s approach.

“I think it will be lighthearted,” he said. “The script is very close to the original (films) that we remember. It’s very charming. It’s funny and very lighthearted.”

Mikkelsen said they’ll start filming “Three Musketeers” in August, with hopes of hitting an April 15, 2011 release date.
