Teen twins arrested while filming James Bond spoof
Teenage twins from Aberdeen were arrested and held in police cells for hours after they staged a mock car chase and brandished an airgun while filming an advert for a competition, reports the
Press & Journal.
The 13-year-old boys, Hugo and Ollie Inglis, were making a 30-second commercial for Blu-Tack when police arrested them at an industrial estate in the city.
Their sister Martha, 20, and dad Robert, 58, who were helping them film their entry, were also arrested.
Last night Grampian Police spokesman confirmed they attended and made the arrests âafter calls from concerned members of the publicâ.
Mum Deborah, of Stanley Street, said she had to be taken to the police station in a squad car as both the family vehicles had been impounded because they were being used for the mock car chase.
She said: âThey were doing a James Bond film for a competition and I got a phone call from the police saying they had arrested my children and my husband.
âThey all went to the police station handcuffed and were put in separate cells.
âThe procurator fiscal was going to charge them with breach of the peace but since then everything has been dropped.
âThere were a whole lot of police involved but they didnât go ahead with it because they could see it was just an innocent thing.â
The twins have been making films for years and regularly enter competitions.
Ollie said: âThe idea of the advert was to have some bad guys chasing James Bond in a car. âWhen police searched the cars they found story boards we had drawn before filming.
âEventually we managed to convince them we werenât criminals or terrorists â we were just making a film.â
A letter sent to the family by procurator fiscal Stephen McGowan, and shown to the Press and Journal, says: âYou have been reported to me for allegedly committing the following offence â breach of the peace at Greenbank Crescent, East Tullos, Aberdeen, in that you did conduct yourself in a disorderly manner and take part in the recording of a film in which a ballbearing firing handgun was brandished in full view of the public.â
It goes on to say there was enough evidence to bring the case to court but adds: âI have, however, decided not to take such proceedingsâ.
