The Daily Record make outlandish claims about Owen as the next Bond - MI6 gets the official denial from Eon
Scotland`s newspaper
The Daily Record is off printing reams of Bond rumours again, this time recycling quotes from Clive Owen, with a dash of conveniently anonymous info.
The speculation does not stop there however, the paper`s article by Rick Fulton makes even more outlandish claims thanks to an anonymous source.
`Clive`s the one. There have been rumours about Clive, but these rumours are getting louder and louder now`
Apparently Brosnan will announce that Bond 21 is his final Bond film in a press conference in January/February 2004, and for the first time ever, the next Bond will be announced too. The hacks claim Clive Owen will be sworn in as Bond number 6 and plans annouced for his filming in 2006 for Bond 22 to be released in 2007.
What makes the piece in the Record even more laughable, are the glaring inaccuracies about the producers and franchise. Other notable blunders include listing the new Bond game cast as candidates for Bond 21, and the last title by retired Bond author Raymond Benson as the plot.
MI6 resident movie expert `KungFooKing` spoke to Eon Productions yesterday and confirmed that the claims are totally false and without foundation.
MI6 Rumour Rating: The Daily Record is available in all good Scottish newsagents. It`s best left there.
