Shirley Bassey was considered for 'Live And Let Die' theme song
It's one of the best-loved James Bond themes but Sir Paul McCartney says that after heâd recorded Live And Let Die in 1973, producer Harry Saltzman expected Dame Shirley Bassey or someone else to sing it.
Sir Paul tells MOJO magazine that heâd always wanted to write a Bond theme.
But according to Macca, when Saltzman heard the track, he asked producer George Martin who he planned on having sing the âfinishedâ version.
Says Macca: âHe said, âThatâs a great demo but who are you thinking of getting to sing it?â He was thinking of Shirley Bassey.â
