'For Your Eyes Only' co-star Graham Crowden passes away, aged 87

Actor Graham Crowden, best known for his role in Waiting for God and A Very Peculiar Practice, has died aged 87, his agent has said.

The Edinburgh-born actor enjoyed a career spanning half a century, says the Daily Mail

His agent Sue Grantley said: "He was a wonderful, wonderful man and a brilliant actor and we will miss him terribly."

He also appeared in films including the cult 1968 movie If.... and the James Bond adventure For Your Eyes Only.

He turned down the role of Doctor Who, in 1974, after the departure of Jon Pertwee because he did not want to commit himself to one character.

Bu he later appeared in an episode of the long-running science-fiction series as a villain opposite Tom Baker.
Between 1990 and 1994, he starred with Stephanie Cole in the comedy series Waiting for God, as a sprightly resident of a retirement home.

His TV work continued and in 2001, he had a guest role in Midsomer Murders.

He made his final TV appearance in 2008 as Sir John Sackville in Foyle's War.
