Sharp make Q-Branch jealous with new 3D laptops - complete with James Bond
Sharp Electronics have announced a gadget that Q would be proud of - a notebook computer with a new 3D screen.
Sharp must have thought the same way, as the Actius RD3D notebook will ship with Bond, James Bond.
The new laptop has a special 15-inch LCD screen that switches from a standard two-dimensional mode to a stereoscopic one that creates a three-dimensional perspective. The LCD screen uses a ridged screen surface to direct different images to the left and right eye, filtering and projecting light toward the viewer`s eye. Because of the ridged screen, the 3D effect only works if the viewer is in the correct distance and position.
While Sharp highlighted the Actius RD3D in September as a tool for scientific applications such as computer-aided design and medical imaging, the notebook manufacturer now touts its potential for use with movies and games.
The Actius RD3D sells for $3299 and will be shipped with "James Bond 007: NightFire" from EA Games.
