Jeffery Deaver talks about Dubai at 'Carte Blanche' book unveiling
The next James Bond novel, due to be released in May, will be set in Dubai. Carte Blanche, written by Jeffery Deaver, was unveiled for the first time this morning.
Deaver, who was commissioned to write the next 007 novel by Ian Fleming Publications, said he was inspired to set the novel in Dubai after visiting Emirates Airline Festival of Literature.
"When I thought about the setting for the new book I thought immediately about Dubai," he said, at a press conference launching the festival this morning. "Not only is it an incredibly fun, wonderful and exhilarating place but it retains at its heart an exotic core."
He added he was drawn to the juxtaposition of the ancient culture and modern skylines, saying his favourite parts of Dubai were Port Saeed and Deira.
Isobel Abulhoul, the director of the festival, said she was "over the moon" at the news.
