Zim will be responsible for heading the studio's digital creative and digital brand strategy, overseeing work on domestic titles. He'll report to Dwight Caines, prexy of worldwide digital marketing for Sony.
"I've known Jake for several years, and have always had great respect for the work he's accomplished," Caines said in a statement. "I'm excited to benefit from his creativity and think he'll bring yet another dimension to a digital team that is already among the best in town."
Prior to joining Sony, Zim served as prexy of digital marketing for 20th Century Fox since 2009, where he oversaw Fox's development and execution of online and mobile marketing campaigns for domestic releases. He spearheaded the digital marketing strategy for "Avatar," as well as Fox franchise installments like "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" and most recently "Rio."
Filling out Caines' roster at Sony are Elias Plishner and Michael Fisk, who run the media and international digital initiatives, respectively.
Zim will directly manage such upcoming Sony projects as "21 Jump Street," "Total Recall" and the next offerings from Sony's series, "Men in Black" and James Bond.
