'Casino Royale' writer Paul Haggis eyeing up new espionage film

26-Jun-2011 • Bond Style

The LA Times blog has an exclusive scoop: the screenwriter and director is in talks with Universal to pen a big-screen adaptation of Daniel Silva's trademark Gabriel Allon.

Universal declined to comment but the Times source suggests that choosing a director is a long way off - although it is possible the "Crash" director would also helm the project.

Silva has written 11 novels featuring the Mossad agent Allon since 2000.

Haggis contributed to the screenplays of the prior two James Bond adventures, "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace" with regular scribes, Purvis and Wade.

The studio has had their hands on the rights to Allon since the spring and the project will be produced by former NBC chief Jeff Zucker.
