York-based John Barry tribute event's plea for assistance

10-Aug-2011 • Event

A concert is planned in the memory of York-born film composer John Barry at the Barbican on Sunday, October 30th 2011 and organisers are seeking public assistance.

They are inviting anyone who knew or worked with the star to make contact, in particular they are looking to speak to Barry's protégée Johnny De Little.

People with any photographs or old programmes of John Barry performances are also being asked if they could be reproduced in a souvenir programme being created for the concert, explains the York Press.

In other respects the event is shaping up well, with 600+ tickets sold, Prima Vocal Ensemble & Millegro Singers had been added to the list of performers taking part.

Organiser Graham Bradbury says, "BBC Radio York’s popular presenters Adam Tomlinson and Elly Fiorentini will be hosting the event, which is in aid of the Lord Mayor of York’s Charities, York Against Cancer and York and District Mind."

Tickets are priced at £22.50 and are available from the Barbican box office.

Anyone with programmes or photos which can be used in the souvenir programme, or who played alongside John Barry, should phone Mr Bradbury on 01904 708330.
