'Skyfall' Turkish scenes to be shot in February at the Varda Railway Bridge

According to reports coming out of the country, Sam Mendes' 23rd James Bond adventure, "Skyfall", will be shooting at the impressive Varda Railway Bridge in February.

The bridge itself is a spectacular arched affair in the Taurus Mountains in southern Turkey, about 111mi / 180km from the Mediterranean.

The bridge spans 172-meters and crosses a 98-meter-high chasm.



According to Hurriyet Daily, the 200 strong "Skyfall" production team will travel to Turkey in January. Local crew are already preparing for their arrival.

Previously MI6 reported that 007 producer Michael Wilson met with Turkish officials to secure filming permission at various locations in the country, including Istanbul's famed Sultanahmet Square.

According to Turkish cultural officials, the opening sequences of "Skyfall" will be set in the country.
