Kathryn Bigelow was asked to direct a James Bond film

Whether it happened before or after her Best Picture Academy Award for 'The Hurt Locker' back 2010, it has emerged today that Katherine Bigelow was approached to direct a James Bond film.
Then Sony Pictures chief Amy Pascal 'urged' her to direct a Bond adventure (Sony had a deal with MGM to prop up the production budget in return for distributing the Daniel Craig era Bond films for a share of the profits).
Variety reports today in their interview with Bigelow - to promote her new film 'Detroit' - that the director had been offered big-budget movies but had so far declined all advances.
"Former Sony chief Amy Pascal publicly stated that she urged her to shoot a Bond film. So far, at least, Bigelow’s not interested in taking the plunge," the Variety report confirms.
“Those opportunities are out there, and I’m grateful,” the director says. “I’m just more drawn to a journalistic aspect of film. That opens up very specific avenues as opposed to more comforting avenues. It’s a responsibility I’m excited to pursue, whereas something that has less content is less compelling to me.”
