Bond 22 Director Hints At Swiss Alps
24th June 2007

No sooner has Marc Forster been officially announced as the director of the 22nd James Bond film (due out November 7th 2008), but the German helmer is slipping some hints about the film to news outlets.

Unlike Casino Royale, where the early stages of pre-production were littered with rumours of possible shooting locations like South Africa and Australia (none of which were ultimately used), the road to Bond 22 has been a rather tight-lipped affair. Until now.

Forster spoke his Swiss media group Blick about taking on Daniel Craig's second outing as 007 on the back of the tremendous success of Casino Royale, and dropped a few hints along the way.

According to the report, the production is considering shooting in the Swiss Alps, where Forster said on is never short of a great panorama. But he also stated that decisions are far from complete due to the heavy use of the locale in the 1969 film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". Forster added the potential Swiss scenes may add nothing new.

When quizzed about the Bond Girls in the series, Forster joked that casting the new leading ladies was one of the perks of his new job. But which of the past girls have been his favourites?

Ursula Andress (Honey Rider in 1962's Dr No) is still at the top of the heap according to Forster, but Halle Berry (Jinx in 2002's Die Another Day) - who he directed in her Oscar winning film "Monster's Ball" - is a close tie.

Forster admitted he was completely surprised that he was considered, and won, the role of directing the film. But he said the producers knew exactly what they wanted: not an action director but someone who can deal with actors and had his own visions for the film.
