In GoldenEye 2, players will explore the dark side of the
Bond underworld, playing an agent who was a candidate for
00 status before being dismissed from MI6
for reckless brutality. Players will join ranks with the legendary super-villain
Auric Goldfinger, fighting for control of the world's greatest criminal organization.
The game is under development at EA Los Angeles for multiple console platforms,
scheduled for release this holiday season under the EA Games brand.
"We look forward to continued success
with this fall's release of a new chapter in the Bond saga
and the
creation of another blockbuster franchise in GoldenEye
2" said Travis Rutherford, Senior Vice President of
MGM Consumer Products and Interactive. Speaking to Reuters about the new studio in Los Angeles,
EA's John Riccitiello spoke about the style of the new
game:
"We've been working kind of in secret for over
a year to try and build a product that meets the expectations
consumers have.
"It's a violent story-driven
shooter. This isn't the same debonair kind of Bond
we've been building
for the last couple of years."
Officially under development by EA LA, Goldeneye 2 will
appear on multiple consoles - expect to see it on PS2,
Xbox and Gamecube, with a probably re-spin for GameBoy
Advance.
The game is set to hit stores this November, although
as the "Everything or Nothing" release date slipped
badly, an exact shipping date is not likely until later
this year.
Dundee (Scotland) based games studio Visual Science, which
has previously worked on other EA titles such as Formula
1: Career Challenge, is believed to be working closely with
EA's Los Angeles studio on the new GoldenEye 2 title.
The first public sighting of "GoldenEye 2" is
expected at the E3 trade show in Los Angeles in May. |
