Biography
Born in 1929, Peter Lamont followed in his family footsteps
and entered the design and decoration business. He worked on
the set of films his brother and father were involved with
and learned the trade hands-on. At the age of 35 he earned
the position of draughtsman on James Bond's third outing, "Goldfinger".
He rose quickly through the ranks on various
Bond films in the 1960s and '70s. When John Glen took up
the directors chair in 1981 to helm "For Your Eyes
Only", he enlisted Lamont to be his Production Designer.
Since then he has contributed to nine 007 adventures in
this role. His bother Michael, and son Neil, have worked
closely with Peter to create some lavish and memorable
sets and stages for the 007 films. Beyond Bond, Lamont
worked on a variety of high-profile productions, most notably "Titanic" (1997)
for which he won an Oscar, LAFCA and Satellite award. After
2006's "Casino Royale", Lamont retired from the
Bond family, handing his duties to Dennis Gasser for "Quantum
of Solace" |
