Fathom Events are releasing 'Dr. No' back on the big screen across the US starting this weekend, but if you value picture quality, you should avoid these events.
The company recently faced backlash for a terrible screening of 'The Thing' and it was uncovered that Fathom delivered the film to cinemas via Dish Network set-top box. They even used the wrong aspect ratio. It was no different from watching the film on a high-numbered movie channel on cable, only without the ad breaks.
MI6 has been tipped off that 'Dr. No' will be delivered the same way. This is why listings of the screenings avoid saying anything about the format.
This is in stark contrast to the UK where Park Circus is distributing pristine 4K remasters to cinemas every week.
