It is with great sadness to report that Stephen Oxenrider, prolific lifelong James Bond collector and friend of the MI6 team, has passed away at the age of 74 on August 12th after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Throughout his working life, Steve was a teacher for various age groups where he specialized in Spanish and ESL, first in Pennsylvania and then in Virginia. In 1998, he was awarded Teacher of the Year for Arlington Public Schools, the first ESL teacher to receive that honor.
Steve began his James Bond collection at high school and accumulated one of the world's biggest archives of 007 photography, amongst a swathe of rare memorabilia.
In recent years, Steve was very kind to share access to his collection and assisted us on various projects for MI6 Confidential magazine, particularly the latest special 'Moonraker: Science Fiction or Science Fact' where his input and expertise were essential.
Steve is survived by his partner of 52 years, and husband of 14 years, Tom Jones of Arlington, VA, his brother and sister-in-law, Stacy & Sandy Oxenrider of Millersburg, PA, his niece, Ashley Oxenrider and great-nephew, Wyatt Schaffner of Millersburg, PA.
