First rumour of 'Next Bond' timeline emerges, doubts raised

The Bluray discs of 'No Time To Die' are still warm in players but that doesn't stop the media speculation of who will be taking over from Daniel Craig firing up.
MI6 has a policy of no longer reporting on the tabloid 'bookmaker odds' updates, which have no bearing in the reality of the situation and only exist as either free advertising exercises for the gambling organization or generating buzz for actors by unscrupulous publicists.
So it was with a little bit of surprise that the first trade press rumbling emerged this week with an eye-opening timeline.
Justin Kroll, a senior film reporter for Deadline, tweeted on Wednesday: "While it's been crickets on the #BondWatch scene, making it seem like this will be a long process, one source with a couple clients in the mix told me something interesting recently of when a decision may come down the pipeline, "I think we here (sic) who it is after the Oscars."
The 2022 Academy Awards are being held in late March, and that is a very aggressive timeline to cast a new actor. Producers say they aren't thinking much about it yet, but they haven't always been 100% honest with their statements (telling the media they were down to a shortlist would cause a riot). If they are talking to actors' agents, then leaks will start to appear soon. EON has not had to deal with the social media age when casting a new Bond.
Usually, the film has to be greenlit and a director hired before the new James Bond is cast. Neither of those two milestones has been reached yet, pouring doubt on this rumour.
