New London skyscraper turned down James Bond filming

In a report from Reuters about the plight of British property developers amidst a recession, and how film crews of major blockbusters are helping out by using their vacant buildings for location filming, a little tidbit leaked out about the new James Bond film "Skyfall".

The report revealed: Western Europe's tallest skyscraper, the 1,016-feet Shard nearing completion next to London Bridge train station, turned down makers of the new James Bond film Skyfall, which has been filming near the Tower of London, even though it has not yet signed an office tenant

"It is disruptive. We do not need those kind of gimmicks," a spokesman for developer Sellar Property Group said.

The Shard's snobby loss is someone else's gain, as "Skyfall" was instead seen filming in January at Heron Tower, a stunning new building that is just a stone's throw from the iconic Gherkin.
