Stallone fails to lure Sir Sean Connery out of retirement for 'Expendables 3'
Sylvester Stallone has failed in his bid to lure James Bond star Sir Sean Connery out of retirement for 'one last mission'.
Stallone is busy building a cast of action heroes for the third installment of his "Expendables" series and wants to go bigger and better for the next movie, set for release in 2014. Director Simon West admitted heâd "love to have Sean Conneryâ He would be great to bring back from retirement."
Connery, 82, knocked back the invitation and a rumoured $1m pay day. His spokesman yesterday insisted to reporters: "Sir Sean is officially retired â sorry."
West and Stallone are plotting to lure Clint Eastwood, Nicolas Cage, Harrison Ford, and troubled stars Mel Gibson and Wesley Snipes into starring in a third romp. Sly told The Sun: "I like Mel. He has been a good friend. Weâve got Nicolas Cage to play one of the characters. Weâve approached Clint Eastwood, weâre talking to Harrison Ford. And we want Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison for tax evasion."
