'Octopussy' villain Steven Berkoff faces driving charges from UK police
Steven Berkoff, who plays General Orlov in the 1983 Bond adventure, "Octopussy", was alleged to have clipped a pedestrian's leg in London's Oxford street.
The police who detained Mr. Berkoff reported he could only produce a Californian driving licence, which was no longer valid in the UK.
The actor and playwriter denies the driving without due care and attention charges, but admitted to not having the correct licence on him. He is due to be tried by the City of London Magistratesâ Court later this year, the
Daily Mail reports.
'I have an American driving licence since I travel to Los Angeles quite a lot backwards and forwards,' he explained. 'I thought it was valid and this is my mistake.'
He will return to court on August 27 to hear about the due care and attention charges.
