007's stunt double for Olympics opening dies in accident
The stuntman who doubled for Daniel Craig as James Bond for the
live parachute jump in the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games has died.
Mark Sutton, 42, was killed on Wednesday after crashing into a ridge near Martigny at the Swiss-French border, reports the
Telegraph.
The paper reports that Mr Sutton "jumped from a helicopter during the Swiss wing-diving event, where aerial acrobats appear to soar through the air with the aid of special winged suits. Details of the crash remained unclear but Mr Sutton, who once served in the Gurkha Rifles, was said to have been killed immediately."
According to The Local, a Swiss news site, he and a colleague jumped from a helicopter at a height of 10,800 feet and intended to land near the village of Le Peuty.
The event in Switzerland was for the world's top 20 wing divers and featured them leaping from helicopters while being filmed.
