Orlando`s PR blooms with nonsense rumours of a role as a young 007 in new movie spin-off

27-Jul-2004 • Bond News

Not content with recycling Bond 21 casting rumours, the press have a new angle to fill up their column inches - a young James Bond movie.

Journalists with poor comprehension have jumped to the wrong conclusion that Miramax are about to start shooting a 007 film based on the new young James Bond books by Charlie Higson. Miramax only have the book publication rights in North America for the first two of five novels to be penned by Higson, which will be released by Puffin in the UK. Miramax have no film rights for James Bond, young or old.

The single story has stoked the fires of many an entertainment reporter's hearts and the erroneous story has already been reported as "news" by a number of media outlets across the world.

As usual, an anonymous source came to the Sunday Telegraph's aid with revealing information to back themselves up: "The story that Orlando will play Bond is true but we are doing a rather novel film about the young James Bond".
