Honor `Pussy Galore` Blackman rallies support for new breast cancer campaign

13-Aug-2004 • Actor News

Star of stage and screen, Honor Blackman, has appealed to Northern Ireland people to dig deep for cancer research.

Honor is famous for her role as Pussy Galore in 1964's "Goldfinger", the cult hit The Avengers and '90s comedy The Upper Hand. And next month she will be on our TV screens with a guest role in Coronation Street.

Before that, however, she is calling for people to support Cancer Research Northern Ireland's new campaign, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

In an open letter she said: "With one in nine women diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lives, most people know someone who is, or has been, affected by the disease.

The actress continued: "Cancer Research Northern Ireland supports world-class scientists, doctors and nurses. This work must continue. You can help by getting involved. Hundreds of fund- raising events will be happening including sponsored walks - full details of these from www.cancerresearchuk.org/ makingstrides. Alternatively you can get "in the pink" and organise your own event. To find out more visit www.cancerresearchuk.org/ breastcancer or call the Events Hotline on 0870 160 20 40.

Thanks to `JP` for the alert.
