Self confessed James Bond contender Chris Feeney meets his match

27-Aug-2004 • Actor News

The home of an actor, who says he is in the running to become the next James Bond, has been pelted with eggs, it emerged tonight.

Former teacher Chris Feeney, 36, blamed young pranksters for the attack on his house in Sligo, Ireland - reports Yahoo News.

The actor, who says he is in a short-list of five to become the next 007, added: "I suppose it goes with the territory. There was no permanent damage done but it costs them money to buy the eggs.

"The police took it seriously, it is vandalism, but it is juvenile stuff and they will have a chat with them and their parents and caution them on this one."

Feeney said his five children, aged between 17 and 15-months, had been taunted at school after he submitted his CV for the film part.

"It is just stupid stuff but it does affect kids more than adults," said Feeney, who was interviewed in London for the role.

The Galway native is hoping to take over from another Irishman Pierce Brosnan who announced he was quitting the role after starring in a series of action packed Bond movies.

Eon Productions and the Broccoli family, which own the Bond franchise, have not yet announced who will be the next Bond.

Feeney, who trained as a sniper with the FBI, said: "It is real I'm there among the last few so maybe the training will come into play. I've jumped 39 times out of an aeroplane. Pierce Brosnan has never done that. I've seen a lot of action and would like to a do a lot of my own stunts.

Feeney, who is currently working on a action thriller by the Figgis brothers called 3 Crosses, said: "There is more to life than 007 but it would be sweet."
