Sir Sean Connery gives pep talk to new SNP leadership
Sir Sean Connery dropped in at the SNP national headquarters in Edinburgh to offer his congratulations to new leader Alex Salmond and his deputy Nicola Sturgeon - reports
The Scotsman.
The former James Bond star met the pair immediately after their convincing victory in the leadership elections on Friday.
True to character, Connery then delivered a pep talk to staff as the party begins preparations for a lengthy campaign ahead of next yearâs expected General Election.
The veteran actor was in Scotland this week for the unveiling of plans to build the new £20m home for the Edinburgh International Film Festival, to be called the Connery Filmhouse in honour of the actor.
Connery is a long-time admirer of Salmondâs, claiming that during John Swinneyâs time at the helm, the party missed the new leaderâs "wily" abilities. Both he and Salmond have dismissed claims of a rift between the party and Connery.
