Pierce Brosnan refuses to talk about James Bond to US press
After a couple of weeks of repetitive statements to the media about the end of his career as James Bond 007, Pierce Brosnan has now gone silent on the subject.
During press junkets for his latest film, "After The Sunset", the movie company's public relations have told journalists, "Don't ask him about the Bond movies".
But that request only acts like a red rag to the bull, and one journalist was brave enough to ask anyway. Cheryl Blackerby of
The Palm Beach Post (USA) asked, "will you do a fifth Bond movie?" The scowl came back, his blue eyes narrowed. "I, ah, don't know. I can't talk about that."
He could, however, talk a lot about politics.
On the subject of why he became an American citizen in September...
"I had to! I became an American so I could have a voice and vote Bush out of office. It is tragic what he has done, from the war in Iraq -- where are the weapons of mass destruction? -- to the environment. I have lived in America for 23 years, I have an American wife (TV journalist Keely Shaye Smith), three American sons, and I love this country and it saddens me to see what Bush has done."
His movie, "After the Sunset," is forgotten. "Have you seen 'Fahrenheit 9/11' ?" he asked. "Everyone should see that movie."
