Sir Sean Connery expected to attend Marrakech Film Festival, Morocco

07-Dec-2004 • Actor News

Sir Sean Connery is among the movie stars expected to turn out for the Marrakech Film Festival, Morocco, which opened on Monday - reports the Scotsman.

British director Alan Parker was presiding over a jury including Brazilian writer Paulo Coehlo and American actress Rosanna Arquette for the fourth annual international film festival.

Fourteen feature-length films are competing, including road-trip comedy Sideways and Down to the Bone, a tale about a lower middle class wife and mother struggling to kick a cocaine habit.

The festival was also to highlight film-making in Morocco and India and to honour the careers of Connery, Italian actress Claudia Cardinale and director Youssef Chahine of Egypt.

Organisers said Lawrence Fishburne, Spanish movie star Victoria Abril and US director Oliver Stone, who filmed part of Alexander in Morocco, were among other celebrities expected to attend.

The festival ends on Sunday.
