Samantha `Miss Moneypenny` Bond helps launch `Women Working` campaign

13-Dec-2004 • Actor News

Actress Samantha Bond, famous for playing Miss Moneypenny in the Pierce Brosnan era of James Bond films, is backing the Prince’s Trust’s Women Working campaign, it was announced today. She will be joined by TV newsreader Katie Derham and comedian Helen Lederer - reports The Scotsman (UK).

The initiative, launched this week, aims to raise £2 million for disadvantaged young women in the UK who are struggling to overcome barriers to training and employment. Funding will allow the youth charity to support young mothers and young women leaving care or prison into education or employment and change their lives for good. Business-orientated women across the country will also be able to apply for cash to set up their own enterprise.

Samantha Bond said: “Like The Prince’s Trust, I believe passionately in giving young people opportunities to succeed opportunities which are often denied to so many young people in the society in which we live today.

“There are a great many networking forums for women, but Women Working is different because through bringing together successful women, we hope to help thousands of young women in the UK to overcome barriers and move their lives forward.”
