Clive Owen - fan favourite for James Bond #6 - nominated for Oscar

Fan favourite to take over the role of James Bond 007, Clive Owen was today nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award.

Owen has already been made favourite with the bookmakers for best supporting actor for his role in Closer - a part which clinched him the equivalent Golden Globe last week.

Bookmakers last Tuesday halved the odds on Clive Owen becoming the next James Bond after he won a Golden Globe award for his role in the sex drama "Closer".

"Since winning the Golden Globe, we have had a succession of calls from punters who think he would make an excellent Bond," said a spokesman.

Owen is now priced at 4-1 from 8-1.
