Four former James Bond girls voted as sexiest women in their age categories

09-Feb-2005 • Bond News

Good Housekeeping has named Honor Blackman, who played Pussy Galore in the 1964 James Bond film "Goldfinger", the sexiest woman in her 70s.

Joanna Lumley, who has also appeared with 007 - in 1969's "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" - heads the list as the sexiest woman in her 50s. Jane Seymour who played Solitaire in the 1973 film "Live And Let Die" features in the #2 spot

Britt Eckland - Mary Goodnight in 1974's "The Man With The Golden Gun" came 5th in the over 60s category.

Even 007's boss ranked in the poll. Dame Judi Dench, who has played M in the last four Bond movies, came 4th in the over 70s section.

The sex appeal study was judged by photographer Lord Lichfield, GMTV's Ben Shepherd, chef and restaurateur Jean-Christophe Novelli, singer Darius and Capital Radio presenter Neil Fox.

Desmond Morris, author of 'The Naked Woman: A Study of the Female Body', said: "In today's world, the concept of beauty and attraction comes via two separate avenues, anatomical beauty and behavioural beauty.

"It's comforting then, finally to see a set of top 10 lists that celebrates not only technically gorgeous women, but also those whose looks subvert the norm."

Good Housekeeping's science editor Vivienne Parry said the same thing that makes both men and women sexy is the brain, because it "generates fantasy, devises seduction routines and is aroused by sight, scent and smell".

She added: "It's the brain that prompts us to advertise our feelings with the way we talk, move and act."

The study is to be published in the March issue from the National Magazine Company and will list the top 10 contenders for each category.
