UK TV - Pierce Brosnan to present at the BAFTA awards tonight

Pierce Brosnan will be appearing on British television tonight to present the Best Director gong at the The British Academy Film Awards 2005.

The Baftas have traditionally taken place on a Sunday night but this year they've moved to Saturday - what better night for a glamorous movie bash packed with celebs? Kate Winslet will be competing not only against Imelda Staunton for Vera Drake but against herself in the best actress category, as she's been nominated for both Finding Neverland and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. But the night could belong to director Martin Scorsese and his Howard Hughes biopic The Aviator, which is shortlisted in a whopping 14 categories. As usual, Stephen Fry will host the event, in his nicely sardonic way.
