James Bond composer John Barry receives BAFTA Fellowship

James Bond composer John Barry was awarded the BAFTA Fellowship at this year's ceremony (held in Leicester Square, London on Saturday night) - reports EmpireOnline.

Virginia McKenna presented it to the man responsible for “one of the most iconic themes in the history of cinema,” the Bond theme. Barry also worked on Born Free – in which presenter McKenna starred - Dances with Wolves, The Ipcress Files, Midnight Cowboy, Out of Africa and others.



After a rousing standing ovation, Barry said, “I’ve had the best fortune in the world to have worked with the finest directors and producers on the finest productions. I owe them a huge debt of gratitude. I am very, very touched.”

Last week, Barry blasted modern composers for creating forgettable scores.
