James Bond vs Red Grant voted 18th best movie hand-to-hand fight ever

15-May-2005 • Bond News

In the June edition of UK Film magazine `Total Film`, James Bond lands 18th place in the 50 greatest hand-to-hand fights ever where King Kong vs T-Rex from King Kong (1933) was the critics` choice.

#18 Spy vs Spy
James Bond (Sean Connery) vs Red Grant (Robert Shaw) FRWL 1963

Fights on trains are 007`s speciality. Remember in TSWLM where he sparked Jaws` metal gnashers with a light bulb? Or the one with Tee-Hee where he literally disarmed the metal-limbed LALD nasty? Forget the gimmicky freaks, though - this is Her Majesty`s finest scrapping with a top SPECTRE agent almost as good as he is, in a battering, no-holds-barred rumble of kicks, elbows, head-butts and kneecaps. Only the fight at the end of GE - Bond again up against another agent - comes close to matching it.

Bond was ranked here above fellow action heroes Indiana Jones (#28) and Jason Bourne (#23) - although `Lord of the Rings` Gandalf beat Her Majesty`s best, weighing in at #13.
