Sir Sean Connery helps secure Virgin flights to the Bahamas
Scottish movie legend Sir Sean Connery's tireless six-year campaign to persuade Virgin Atlantic Airways to start flying to the Bahamas has finally paid off - the first flight arrived in Nassau this week.
The former James Bond star has lived in the Bahamas for the past 40 years, after falling in love with the sun-drenched islands when he filmed 1965's 007 movie "Thunderball" there.
And he is thrilled Virgin mogul Sir Richard Branson has finally given in to his persistent pleas for flights to be provided in and out of the Bahamas - reports
ContactMusic.
Branson says, "It was actually, believe it or not, Sean Connery who over the last five or six years would consistently be ringing me up and sending me notes and asking, 'When are you going to come to the Bahamas?'
"I am delighted to have answered his call."
