UK TV - O.H.M.S.S. and `You Only Live Twice` on ITV, Saturday

22-Jul-2005 • Media Alert

Film: "On Her Majesty`s Secret Service" (1969)
Channel: ITV1 (UK)
Date: Saturday 23rd July 2005
Time: 14:00

This is the James Bond everyone forgets, mainly because it is missed by most TV channels and it stars the Australian George Lazenby, who went from chocolate commercial to big-screen career disaster. Wittily written (by Richard Maibaum and Simon Raven) and pacily directed (by Peter Hunt), it has excitement galore. Yet the chemistry between Diana Rigg and Lazenby is nonexistent.

Film: "You Only Live Twice" (1967)
Channel: ITV1 (UK)
Date: Saturday 23rd July 2005
Time: 16:50

Sean Connery, in slyly macho mode as 007, goes on a mission to Japan to take on crime syndicate Spectre and its evil boss Blofeld (Donald Pleasence). Director Lewis Gilbert ensures no expense is spared (no wonder Blofeld`s cat is a luxurious Persian) and designer Ken Adam puts that production money where his volcano is. As a bonus, the screenwriter was Roald Dahl.

Directed by: Lewis Gilbert
Cast: Sean Connery, Donald Pleasence, Akiko Wakabayashi, Tetsuro Tamba, Mie Hama, Teru Shimada, Karin Dor, Lois Maxwell, Desmond Llewelyn, Charles Gray, Tsai Chin, Bernard Lee.
