Octopussy singer Rita Coolidge `never performed Bond theme since 1983`
Calling Rita Coolidge a blast from the past may be a tad unfair, but then it has been almost a decade since the pop-folk hitmaker of the '70s and '80s released an album on these shores. But she is back in a big way with "And So Is Love" (Concord), an album of jazz standards that tugs deep at her soul.
The Chicago Sun-Times had a brief chat with the singer this week, and she revealed an interesting 007 fact!
q. What's the one song you never ever want to perform again?
A. [Laughing.] I can tell you that I have never performed "All Time High" [the theme from the James Bond film "Octopussy"] since the day I recorded it. I guess it's an honor to be a James Bond movie music chick -- that's really five minutes of glory there. When I went over to record that song, it wasn't even finished. I'm in the studio waiting for lyrics. I won't be singing that song again.
