No bond set for suspect calling himself James Bond
A Hagerstown man who was being held at the Washington County Detention Center under the fake name James Bond was identified Tuesday as a suspect wanted in connection with a strong-arm robbery in an alley Thursday afternoon, Hagerstown Police said.
Reginald Duvall Daniels, 38, whose last known address was 50 Summit Ave., was charged with robbery, assault, theft and providing false information to avoid detection of identity. He also was recharged under his real name with drug offenses, assault on police and resisting arrest - reports the
Herald Mail.
The robbery took place Thursday afternoon as a 21-year-old woman was walking home through an alley near Winter Street School after cashing a check at Byers Stop and Go, Sgt. Paul Kifer said. The victim told police the suspect grabbed her around the throat and demanded her money, then reached into her pants pocket and took the $84 from her check. The victim said she recognized the suspect as the man behind her in line at the Stop and Go, later identified from a security videotape as Daniels.
Daniels was apprehended around 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the first block of West Franklin Street by a patrol officer who recognized him from the description of the robbery suspect, Kifer said. Police allege Daniels assaulted the officer and fled, but was later captured and gave the name James Bond. On Tuesday, the officer obtained a photo of the suspect from the Stop and Go and identified the man as the robbery suspect, Kifer said.
Daniels was being held Tuesday without bond at the Washington County Detention Center.
