UK TV - `Ian Fleming - Bondmaker` on BBC1, Sunday night
Show: "Ian Fleming - Bondmaker"
Channel: BBC1 (UK)
Date: Sunday 28th August 2005
Time: 22:45
The James Bond films have been so successful (apparently more than half the world has seen one) that the books they're based on have been overlooked. Which is a shame, not least because author Ian Fleming was so weird - reports the
Radio Times.
Ben Daniels looks the part and gets a nice note of cruelty into the role. But this is the kind of film where characters are "interviewed" on camera, and that's hard to do well, as Emily Woof, playing Fleming's wife, reminds us. The way that marriage went sour is well sketched. "Most marriages don't add two people together, they subtract one from another," he wrote, and there's plenty more of his wit to enjoy here.
